After the holidays, when the rush is through, business is understandably slow. During these times, what is acceptable behaviour on the selling floor? As a retail manager, would you accept this as part of life, when social media usage is prevalent? Maybe they’re on business related tasks? Is it ok for sales associates to snack while on the sales floor? Is this a result of not giving them breaks? Or, do you set standards for sales associate to always be ready when customers are around? You know, the basic greeting- smile, eye contact and a verbal hello. Is this too much to ask? Or am I just ‘old school’ when it comes to minimum standards on the sales floor?
