When inventory becomes a problem and a shipment fails to arrive in time or when there is simply few items left, it is far better to remove a mass merchandise floor fixture and present the products in either a table or somewhere else where they can be integrated with a similar category. I don’t know about you, but when there are only few units left of a certain product, I tend to have a negative view of it. I always think they are left overs and therefore undesirable. The only exception is when they are on clearance. I often tell my clients that spatial intensity affects customer perception of price and value. Affordable items like these skin care products need to be merchandised close to each other with higher spatial intensity while prestige products can get away being displayed with less intensity.
