When Budget Is Tight, The First to be Cut is Staffing. So Sad!

I have worked on the sales floor for many years and understand how it can be so busy at times that staffing is an issue. However, is this a good excuse to allow for half empty displays? What will customers think? What message is conveyed by this wall display? I was in this store in the morning and when I came back in the late afternoon it is still the same. Isn’t maintaining minimum standards just as important? When there is less sales associates on the floor, this also means there is less people to sell to customers. I don’t just mean to deliver customer service, but also to stock up displays so merchandise can be sold. It is so sad seeing missed opportunities like this. When costs need cutting, it is unfortunate that the usual first thing to be cut is manpower.
