Is Getting Lost a Good Thing?

I often get asked, isn’t it good for shoppers to get lost in the selling space so they spend more time in it? Well, if your aim is to get them to spend more time, then yes! However, they are occupied with finding their way out rather than shopping.
A well laid out shop makes it easy for shoppers to understand how they can navigate the space and where to find what they are looking for.
The left image show how one shop was a nightmare to shop in, resulting with customers boomeranging out the shop once they reach the cash area. This was so detrimental to sales as the cash desk is pretty much right near the entrance.
The new layout allowed shoppers to fully penetrate the selling space on either side of the shop, resulting in increased sales.
